Controversial Thursday- Applying for a job at Monster Cafe

Yup...It seems I HAVE to cover this subject. It has been four years now and I have had to put up with it...Some now it is time for some education.  I have to roll my eyes sometimes...So here is what not to do and what to do.  By the way if one is reading this and doesn't understand English...Just copy and paste into Google Translate and get the Spanish version.

Showing up like this for a possible job interview...BAD IDEA!  This is a restaurant.  We want to give the appearance of being CLEAN to our customers.  So yeah, SHAVE the facial hair! It is ok for ones that have them of course but for the purposes of working here...It has to be cut. Present yourself as a clean cut individual...Like....
This guy!  This guy!  Yes I said it.  Now in four year I have only SEEN one person that wore a suit to a job interview here.  That is right.  4 years.  Perhaps they do not own suits in Saltillo or people think that one is not needed to get a job.  Well...You'd be wrong. I have seen where they sell suits in Sendero. Hey at LEAST a shirt and a tie... Look how this guy is!  Very presentable!  I got the job EVERY time in the U.S. whenever I wore a suit.
Now for women....Heck I would take these two!  To me even the don't is presentable.  I like both looks...So yes mujeres....Dress classy!  The first impression is often the right one for a job interview.  EVEN for a lowly restaurant like this...
Women....Do NOT bring your Child, BoyFriend, Grandmother, Parent, or Best friend to a job interview!!!  You have no idea how many times I have seen that in Saltillo.  It is terrible.  Sends off a very bad impression.  But especially do not bring any clowns.  I am terrified of them...
Lastly....
Do not blatantly LIE on your interview....Today one gal came in WITH kid in tow...Told my wife she had letters of recommendation.  Then I interviewed her she said she didn't have letters of recommendation...STUPID GIRL!  Man....That is so stupid.  Do you really think we would hire you if you lied right to our faces?  Not too bright.
Be a bright person.  I love on Seinfeld when George Costanza was interviewing people.  He threw out a random question not related to the job.  Quick, what is your favorite animal?  The guy was not prepared for this.  He says frog...Frog?  Frog is wrong...So don't sit there with a spaced out expression on your face.  We are gaging wheather or not you can be quick on your feet.

And lastly have a good attitude.  Be willing to be humble and accept the work we give you if you need a job.      Some kids come in here expecting to be managers of the place although having NO experience in restaurants...Then they balk at doing mopping of a floor....Lord have mercy.  So change the attitude.  It goes a long way!

Also when you accept a job....SHOW UP FOR IT!  I have given jobs to MANY people and we both agree that they will start the next day.  MANY have not even shown up which begs me to question...Why in the hell did they apply for a job here then?  Ughh....Makes no sense to me.

So come be apart of the team!  We pay MORE than any other restaurant in Saltillo because we recognize the value of a good waiter!
Oh and here is another minor thing Saltillo....When you want to quit a job...Give TWO WEEKS NOTICE!  Yeah, like the movie!  In four years guess how many employees have given two weeks notice?  3.  That is right.  So we were open 6 days a week for almost 4 years.  You can IMAGINE we have had many employees in that time.  The pieces of shit that worked here never gave any notice.  They just didn't show up anymore.  You do that to us PLEASE do not put us a reference on your application for the next job.  You know come to think of it no one ever has.  We have never gotten one call from a new boss to ask about an employee....Guess they already knew the answer we would give...

Wednesday Wishlist- Top 10 WEIRD stuff I want...

So this will be somewhat geeky....Somewhat not.  Just stuff that popped into my head of things that remind me of childhood that I wouldn't mind having again.  This stuff will fall out of my zone of 3.75 inch figures or wrestling figures...
1. Ferarri foldup glasses-  Oh man!  I would love to have these back.  I like stuff that you can fold up.  But with that in mind....Up comes number two...
2. Tom Cruise Risky Business sunglasses- Although I do not have the hair anymore....I would still like these. Risky Business was one of my favorite teen films.

3. Water basketball- I found a knockoff in Mexico a few years back but it kept leaking the water....Darn it to heck....So yeah I would love one of these again.  I spent many an hour playing with such a simple toy.  And speaking of water...
4. Water gun blowup balloon carnival game-  Yeah I want one of those clownheads.  Like I said...Weird right?  I think Wifey would be equally in the huh factor if she saw this in the house.  BUT, it reminds me of Six Flags in Atlanta.  I miss that place.  I think it would look pretty cool in the Monster Cafe.
5. Vantage cigarettes-  Now I do not smoke.  Tried it once and coughed my brains out.  But my father used to smoke these exclusively.  I would like a pack just to put on the shelf.  Smell it from time to time.  But sadly or fortunately they do not make them anymore...
6. Sillisculpts-  Not all of these...Just some of these.  Nothing quite captures the seventies for me than these.

7. Lego Space program-  Now I do NOT collect Lego.  I can't stand them.  But I did have this when I was a tadpole.  I COULD see myself having this set again.  This would be the only one though.
8. School lunch tray- Now I WISH I could eat what you see in the pic ONE last time.  That Friday Pizza day was something.  It was one of my favorite pizzas of all time.  Hey you bloggers with kids!  Do they still serve this in schools today?  Oh well...I would be happy in having an original lunch tray though.
9. Mcdonalds coffee mug-  I own a bar/cafe....I do not drink coffee.  I can't stand it.  BUT I love this mug.  My Dad used to have one.  It is from the seventies as well.
10. 1975 Dakin monkeys hugging-  My mother had this for years.  It was always on her shelf.  Now I hate my mother with a passion.  Think of the movie Mommie Dearest and you'll know why but I DO have fond memories of these monkeys.  Wish I had em.  I am sure Wifey would like them.

You know it occured to me...I have three rings...

No not wedding rings silly.  I only have one of those now!  But three Real Scale Wrestling rings!!!

The first one I have is Jakks Wrestlemania one ring...It is awesome!

The second was is basically the first one with a cage wrapped around it...

\
The third one I have is the first one again with a Hell in the Cell with it...

Now WHY do I have all these frickin rings?  Because of the matches they present that is why....But with this new scaffold match I am making....All I really need is one ring.  Which should I choose?  Hmm....How about....NONE OF THEM!  That is right.  They are made of plastic and flimsy was hell.  I was constantly fixing them with superglue etc.  One ring the first one is cracked right down the middle!!!   The Hell in the Cell is missing a part! So I have decided to sell them all in my cafe.  But that leaves me ringless doesn't it?  Not so....

I am going to have my metal guy do a real scale ring in steel!   With a regular steel cage painted blue of course as an attachment AND a huge hell in the cell to go with it!  Whaddya think?  That will give me something strong and sturdy to play wrestling as well as free up some much needed space!

How about a Lion's Den match?  That would not take up too much room...Or the WCW Triple cage of doom or whatever it was called match...OH!  How about an Elimination Chamber?  Geez that would take some configuring to figure out!

Did I say a month? OMG!

Wowie wow wow wow!  My metal guy has already finished the Scaffold match and the comic book stand....he brought them by tonight.  I almost wanted to cry.  Everything we have made with him has ALWAYS been about the cafe.  So these are the first things for ME!  Wow....They are awesome upclose.  I do not have a camera once again though...AND....He has to make some adjustments to them however.  He forgot the railing for the scaffold and the comic book rack was not properly sized up....But man....Wow...

I WILL get a pic of these when he is finished somehow...

Love you guys out there!

Friday funday- New DVD!

Yeah I still do not have a camera yet...I have the phone to take the picture but do not have the little pen thing.  This was a second hand phone we obtained...So hardly anyone carries the pen to use the phone with. Maybe that is why it was so cheap...Oh well.  We will get it eventually....Then I will be back to blogging up to full strength.

So as for my latest acquisition.....
Found this for 40 pesos in Mexico.  I have been out of the loop of cartoons forever it feels like.  This is an anime version of the Fantastic Four.  It included 4 episodes on this dvd.  Loved the introduction of the Skrulls!!!!  That was so great.  The rest was kinda Eh....HATE Johnny Storm's hair in this one.  Overall I would recommend it.  I hope I can find more of this series to see what happens.

Well...I have not ordered the sign yet however I did...

Yeah...I could not afford the sign right now.  Saltillo is an insecure place.  So instead of a sign I ordered instead two high strength security doors to protect wifey and myself.  Had to do it....AND I ordered two little things from my steel guy....

They should be ready in a month or so....

1. The 3D Monster  comic rack!  Yeah Dan over at 3D Monster blog gets these all the time I suppose.  He has this and an awesome spinner type comic rack with the DC logo that lights up on top of it.  Well I had to go for this.  This was cheaper than a spinning one to make.  So YEAH!!!! My own comic rack...I cannot wait for that.  I am going to print off a sticker to go up top like Dan has too.  Since mine will be homemade...

The second thing I ordered is this bad boy.  I have to admit...I never watched the NWA but I DID hear of this thing called a scaffold match.  I found that someone over at Wrestlingfigs.com did a custom of one pictured above.  Wow....So my metal guy is making one of these to go over my Real Scale Jakks ring.  It should be awesome!  Can you imagine the carnage I will create on this thing?  The mind shudders...

So my Marvel sign that I was so hyped up about will have to wait a little while.  Maybe 2 months or so.  I do not know.

Different sign....

Well...I have changed my mind yet again.  I am not doing the Marvel head sign.  I am doing something alot more expensive!  I thought a Marvel sign with heads around it would look too much like my DC one.  So instead I am reimagining a Marvel seventies poster with more characters in it.

However I am having the artist tweak it a bit.  I will be removing Doc Savage, Kid Colt, Dr. Doom and Nick Fury and adding 4 other different characters.  Cyclops to have an Xmen vibe in there, Godzilla, A Shogun Warrior, and an ape from Planet of the apes.  I should be starting this pretty soon.  It'll cost around $166.....Gotta save for that.  It will also probably be a couple of months for completion.  After this I will be doing less expensive things...

Wednesday Wishlist- DVD C list!

Now this is the third series of DVD wishlists I have done.  These are DVD movies I do not have but want oh so badly.  This will deal in movies that begin with the letter C.  Kind of like Sesame Street huh?  If there is a great C movie and I have not listed it here then chances are I already have it. Giddy up!  So here is my Top 10 C list movies!
1. Catch me if you can- A GREAT film!  Love it.  Bought a clone of it and watched it several times.  Now I feel guilty I have the clone and want the real thing.

2. Chaplin- Downey Jr. before Ironman fame.  It first showed off his acting chops.

3. Chasing Amy- This film should be apart of any geek's collection.

4. CHUD- This was one of the first monster movies I had ever seen as a kid.  Love all the characters and the plot if you can believe that.  I do NOT want the sequel.

5. Circle of Two- A great love story about an older man and a younger woman.  Kind of like the situation with my wife only reversed....And the age difference isn't THAT much.

6. Clifford- This little gem every geek should be.  I was alot like this kid when I was younger.

7. Creepshow 2- I have part one.  I do not have this one.  Love it.  Shame there are only 3 stories though.

8. Condorman-  Possibly the first superhero movie ever made!  It may suck I do not remember.  I do know that I loved it.

9. Coming to America- Eddie Murphy plays multiple parts in this one.  Going to Queens to find a Queen...Hilarious!

10. ConAir- Possibly my least favorite on this list.  But I still want it.

League Assignment- Love...

Write a stream of conscious post listing the things you love and hold dear.

A stream of conciousness about the things I love eh?  Hmm....Being that I JUST watched Bull Durham yesterday I know what Brian is talking about.
When I think of love I gotta go with Wifey.  She and I have made it 6 years together somehow despite being from different cultures, languages and customs.  She is game for anything.  The more we get to know each other the more love is in the air.  But I gotta make this a stream of conciousness right...SO...I like....
Long games of putt putt...
Trips up to Stone Mountain that one can bask in the in complexities of life...
Having hot fudge drip from your face as you wear your sundae as a mask of goo...
And finally scrounging around to find that perfect and cheap comic book that you had as a kid quickly opening the protective cellaphane to smell the aroma of a childhood that you desperately are trying to capture every day of your adult life back.

But I CAN do other people's pics of scores I got....
Found the Black Stallion on DVD here in Mexico for $3....Used to watch it with Dad alot on cable.
Also got Day the Earth Stood Still....the original 1951!

See?  Sometimes you CAN find ok stuff in Mexico...

Controversial Thursday- Top 5 things lost or stolen from me.

Yeah I am running out of Controversial Thursday topics...BUT this is one I just thought of.  It still makes me angry to this day.  I love to not let things go...
1. My star wars figure collection-  I had them in a bag when Dad and I took a trip out west.  This awesome leather bag.  I STILL have the bag but not the figures...Go figure.

2. Animal puppet- I have no idea what happened with this one.  One second it is in my home in Atlanta and then whoosh it is gone.

3. Wallet with engraved bears- It had 8 dollars in it.  Some kid in the apartment complex stole it from my house.  Thought he was my friend...Oh well...
4. Seinfeld Season 5 disc 3- This one was due to my own mother.  She refused to eject it from her computer....Next day she threw me out of our house in Mexico.

5. My entire tape collection- Yeah my mother stole this stuff too.  She had it in her car and refused to give it to me.  It had a great tape in there of a recorded phone call between her and my friend Ed where she states when I had cancer that she refused to help me...Classic Nyda.  What kind of mother doesn't care if her own son has cancer?!?!?!

Wednesday Wishlist- Top 10 BIG figures Hasbro has to make for MU!

I just LOVE the Marvel Universe line from Hasbro!  All of it.  I own NO big figures at all.  I wish I did...However this is my top 10 list that needs to be made in the big figure form.  Giant form....Like 12 inches....And Galactus SHOULD have been taller...But anyways...I hope I can make up 10!  To date Hasbro has done Giant Man, Goliath, Black Goliath, a Sentinel, Galactus, and a rumored Fin Fang Foom.  So they are out!
1. Absorbing Man-  He has been done in a little figure form.  Hasbro has the mold...So why not?  Look at him here!  All steel version!  Wow!
2. The Stranger- This guy has been around FOREVER!  Why not a figure for him?
3. Goliath-  This is the Eric Josten version.  Awesome villain!  Beat Hercules almost to death.  He should be around 8 inches to match the other big guys.
4. Atlas-  Yeah I am getting two for one on this one.  I discovered Thunderbolts by accident.  I picked up the first issue on a lark.  Very surprised!  So it wasn't spoiled for me.
5. Titan- He is a member of the Imperial Guard.  Pack him with Husser and I am sold!

6. Meteor Man- Oh yeah!  One of Spidey's villains was first named the Looter...Then he became Meteor Man and got BIG like in this classic issue.  I want em!
7. The Living Tribunal-  I have no idea what I would do with this figure...But putting him in cosmic situations makes sense.  I certainly could use him for the Infinity Gauntlet...If I could ever get a Thanos...
8. Eternity- Same as Living Tribunal....Man is this guy trippy or what?  He would make great scenes with Dr. Strange!
9. Doombot- They revealed it at Toyfair as seen above.  It is just a Sentinel with a Doom head painted silver...It is awesome!  Do it hasbro!
10. Genoshan Robot-  I cannot find any good pics on the internet but it kinda looked like this.  It was featured in Xmen the animated series.

.BUT...I am not done yet...RE-RELEASE Goliath, Giant Man, Galactus etc.  I need em!  I cannot find them.
