Reaction Funko...Did I miss something?

I think I am a pretty attentive guy.  When Reaction-Funko announced more lines besides Alien at figures.com  I was excited.  Below is the initial announcement.

1. In addition to Escape From New York and Predator look forward to 1984's The Terminator, Firefly, Goonies, ALIENS, Buffy The Vampire TV Series, and Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. And those are just the licenses Brian Mariotti was allowed to share presently. Prepare for a blast from the past, ReAction Figures are going to redefine nostalgia.

This was when I wrote my original blogpost about it.  The above were the announced licenses.  Then I tune into actionfigureinsider today to read this...

I gotta say, I am over the moon about this announcement. Seriously, this is the type of announcement that causes me to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming the whole thing. Not only are we dealing with my favorite scale (that’d be 3-3/4″, for those taking notes) but there’s just a bevy of terrific properties in the list they released initially. Properties such as the Universal Monsters, Aliens, The Dark Crystal, Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the first 2 Terminator flicks and more. With the Alien figures already coming out, and ZICA producing a vintage-styled Six Million Dollar Man line, everything old is really new again! And, I couldn’t be happier!
Lately I have started feeling a bit disillusioned with a lot of modern action figures and the preponderance of articulation and it’s accompanying fragility. These new/old action figures may be just what the doctor ordered for me.
So, again, for those who haven’t read the press release so far we are talking: Back to the Future, Aliens, Predator, Firefly, Universal Monsters, Terminator 1 & 2, Goonies, and Escape from New York with the promise of many, many more to come. There’s a lot of 20th Century Fox licenses on that list which is leading me to hope for Planet of the Apes done in this style. We’ll see.

Since when was Universal Monsters added to the mix?

   Did I miss something?

Edit....After scowering on the internet I came across this...

On their page Funko announced Universal Monsters themselves!!!!!

I have been waxing about bidding on Ebay for some of the old Remco ones I had as a kid.  They are holy grails to me but holy crap!  They are EXPENSIVE on Ebay!!!!  So glad this news it out before I jumped into bidding.  I just hope they make the ones you see in the pic above!

Great American BASH custom...

Ok....This is something I myself put together based on this pic....

See....WCW HAD some great entrance arenas....Bash at the Beach, Halloween Havoc, and Spring Stampede are about the only ones that went above and beyond.  The WWF does this too mind you.  But I saw this pic and decided to make an entrance about it.  I came up with this....

I put the lamp in it to give it some scale.  It will work well on the stage I am having made.

IT is huge.  Awesome display!  I will also be doing in this format- Slamboree, Wrestle War, Fully Loaded and Starrcade.  Considering they all had the basic setup.

I also did an enormous crowd shot.  They are all matted to plastic cardboard type.  Now whenever I take pics of my next wrestling customs it will not be showing the bar.  But this crowd.  Little by little my custom wrestling projects are taking off.

Controversial Thursday- Cosplaying, Divas, and ruination

Welcome to Controversial Thursday where I speak openly about what I am thinking...What issues concern me....This week is about cosplaying.  I like cosplaying.  It is about dressing up as your favorite character and prancing around at a comic convention.  Did you notice the definition?  Dressing up as YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTER...IMO.....Cosplaying today is not about dressing up as YOUR favorite character.  Take this one...

Two costumes are correct....One is not.  She is a cute gal no doubt....But a hardcore comic fan who dressed up as a Girl version of Wolverine?  Um, no.  This little girl just wants attention from males.  Nothing more.  She wouldn't know what a Snikt is from a Bamf.  I highly doubt she has ever read a comic in her life.  Probably saw the Wolverine movie and that was about it.  I HATE cosplaying for the sake of showing your body.  Edit- Turns out it is an obscure Rachel Grey...Ughh...So this girl found someone not used in awhile and made a costume of it.  That is like my dressing up as the Hypno Hustler so I can be cool.

Case in point.  This bimbo....She is using this opportunity to show her tits.  Nothing more.  I would be willing to bet money she has NEVER picked up an issue of the JSA-Justice Society of America in her little life.  She probably met a comic geek at work one day and he suggested that she looks alot like Power Girl.  And there you have it.  She is too embarrassed to show her tits at a strip club because THAT would be demeaning but in her thought process it is ok to walk around a comic book convention like this because uh...it isn't considered lewd...It reminds me of...

These vacid idiots.  The Diva division of the WWE.  The Diva Search contest to be exact.  All of these morons MET Kamala!  They ALL reacted like they had no idea who he was.  Therefore these pathetic hot bodies only wanted to be on TV.  They had NO love for wrestling itself whatsoever.  Pisses me off to no end.  Here I am with a passion for wrestling and get no where whereas these asses get contracts ALL because they look pretty and even after training cannot wrestle worth a shit.

I guess I am still a proponent of Kayfabe.  Wheather in wrestling or in the comic book world.  It USED to be the comic geeks had their own world and their own language.  We were the only ones who knew these characters and suffered with them in their trials and tribulations.  It wasn't for the pretty people.  Somewhere along the way that all changed.  The characters are now destroyed.

I mean look at them!  This is what kids feel superheroes are today.  Even some in the blogging community SUPPORT this bastardization!  It astounds me.  Since when are ANY of these characters bubbly and warm?  It is ridiculous.  My childhood has been corrupted because of this shit.

This is a rumbler Shamus.  I cannot believe people actually collect this crap either.  How do they reconcile the BADASS Shamus on TV with this cute little puke here?  I don't get it.

I believe in Kayfabe.  I want my wrestlers powerhouses.  I do NOT want them cutsy....Same with comic book characters.  Wolverine is a KILLER!  Not smiling joining the others in hugs!

FUCK YOU Marvel, WWE, and false cosplayers!

Leave that cute shit for My little pony and the Cabbage patch kids.

Wednesday Wishlist R DVD's I want

I love Wednesday Wishlist!  We are now on the letter R!  Top 10 edition.

1. Ray Harryhausen's monster series- Gotta love the stop animation in all it's glory.  Sinbad and the eye of the tiger.  Too bad on Amazon it is over $100 now.

2. Ready to Rumble- I have never seen this as I was a dye in the wool WWF supporter.  Amazing that WCW could not use even Hollywood to beat Vince.

3. Re-Animator- HBO back in the day...Love Barbara Crampton!  Especially when she was naked!

4. Regarding Henry- Harrison Ford does a totally different type of movie here.  I really impressed my boss at the video store when I recommended this to a customer.

5. Remo Williams- I loved this stuff as a kid.  It should have been the next Indiana Jones.  I guess the public didn't like ole Fred here.  I thought it was terrific!

6. Return of the living dead documentary- A must have.  ROTLD was the beginning of my punk phase when I was 15.

7. Return of the living dead- Yup...Need the movie AND the docu.

8. Rich Little's Christmas Carol- The last Christmas movie I must have.

9. Rikki Tikki Tavi- A mongoose vs. Cobra!

10. Reign of Fire- I have it on VHS.  My friend Russell gave it to me because he won a radio contest and didn't want to go downtown to pick it up.

McDonaldland could be coming!

I have never won anything good in my life.  I once won a contest on Canoe a canadian wrestling site, that promised a Tshirt if you answered a wrestling question correctly.  I answered the question and thought nothing of it.  Hot damn a new T shirt came in the mail.  Was SO hoping for a Bret Hart shirt or another wrestling Canadian hero....What I got was a crappy shirt with the Canoe logo emblazoned on the front.  How BORING!  Sorry Cal....But really....

So I entered another contest this time at the Goodwill Geek blog.  I came in second place but hey!  Something is something!  I won a Huckleberry toys Mayor McCheese!  OH boy....Love it!  Have not received it yet as it just happened yesterday but man my mind is going again.  I LOVE the wrestling stuff I am making mind you.  It is a dream come true...But now that Mayor McCheese is coming...I think my next project will be the old Remco McDonaldland playset.

Darn you Goodwill Geek!  You have started me on another collection!!!!!!  I will not be doing the train as I don't think my artist could handle something that complex....But I will make the base out of wood.  I think I will change it up a bit.  Make the little hamburger guys in 2 dimension.  Gotta have 3 trees....Oh heck though...This really cuts into my wrestling project thingie....Oh but man....It will be done one day.

Elvira the Tarantula...

Elvira the official Monster Cafe Saltillo mascot...has died.  We will mourn her.  Perhaps I will get a snake next....

Reaction and Funko team up!

They are teaming up to bring us the Alien original Kenner figures to us...AND they lowered the cost.  I might just have to bite and get these. Especially since they will make Parker, Lambert, and Ash. They have announced other lines such as Goonies, Aliens, Terminator, Bill and Ted, Buffy the TV show, Firefly etc.  The Terminator and Aliens ones seem like a good choice but the others I wouldn't waste my time on.  Who would really get down and play the Goonies?  And Bill, Buffy, Firefly were not even AROUND the time this kenner style of figure was around.  Odd choicds...

What SHOULD they do?  If I had a wishlist....

1. Superfriends-  Made in this style would be a dream come true.  I would want them all.  Including a 10 inch tall Apache Chief.  The Superfriends were around when the old Kenner was doing this style of figs.  Anyone remember the Mego versions?  Mego didn't hardly tap the line though.  I am sure Funko and ReAction could make it happen.

2. Star Wars- Kenner did them yes....But they left out ALOT from the movie.  Moff Tarkin etc.  We need those in the Kenner style.

3. Friday the 13th- Hell....This line is for collectors anyway right?  The original Friday movie and part 2 would be awesome to have figures for.  I would even commission my artist to make an awesome cabin playset for these!

Those would be my top three for figures.  Too frickin cool!  But alas...No one ever listens to me.
